General Policy

Western Harbour Tunnel Company Limited (the Company) is committed to the protection of personal data provided by members of the public as stipulated by the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance relating to personal data.

Data Collection & Use

All data collected is for the purposes to help us record the basic customer data necessary for our service delivery. We can follow up on enquiries and suggestions, conduct customer research in order to determine how a particular service is received and make improvement accordingly.

We do not collect any personal data from our customers when they are browsing our website. When they visit our website we record their visit only as a "hit" and do not collect any personal data. The "hit" information is to allow us to compile general statistics to show the daily number of visitors to our website. We use this information only for preparing general statistics on the usage of our website.

Data Security

Once we have obtained customers' personal data, we will maintain the data securely in our system. Only the authorized staff, who has been properly trained, will be permitted to access to such personal data. We will also ensure compliance by our staff with the strictest standards of security and confidentiality.

Transfer of Customers' Personal Data

Customer's personal data held by the Company will be kept confidential but the Company may provide such information to:

-	any business partner, other person or corporation under a duty of confidentiality to the Company which has undertaken to keep such information confidential;
-	where such disclosure is authorized or required by law; and
-	other third party organizations which may assist in the Company's business.

Access and Correction of Customers' Personal Data

The Ordinance provides customers with rights to ascertain whether the Company holds personal data relating to them, to obtain a copy of those data, and to correct any data that is inaccurate. Requests for access and correction should be sent by email, fax or post to General Manager:

Use of Customers' Personal Data for Direct Marketing

We may from time to time send direct marketing materials based on customers' personal data. Any customer who does not wish his or her personal data be used for the purposes of direct marketing by the Company may make such request to the Company provided in information collecting form or in writing by email, fax or post to us.
