Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon
The Standard Chartered Hong Kong Marathon is one of Hong Kong's most important sporting occasions, and Western Harbour Tunnel Company Limited (WHTCL) is honoured to be one of the sponsors. The Western Harbour Tunnel (WHT) has been helping runners cover the ground between Kowloon and Hong Kong Island since as early as 1999. Runners involved in the Marathon enjoy a rare opportunity to compete while running through our 2-km long tunnel tube, immersed 25 m under the harbour. On 8 February 2009 (Sunday), over 20,000 marathon and half-marathon runners participated in the race with Nathan Road as the starting point, via the WHT, and Victoria Park as the finishing point.

The 12th Tour of South China Sea
To support the major sports events in Hong Kong, WHTCL was again honoured to be one of the key sponsors and form part of the cycling route. On 23 December 2007, nineteen worldwide teams comprising more than 100 riders set off in Central passing through the WHT to Tsing Yi where they raced seven laps of a loop on the island before heading back to Central via the WHT. In addition to the professional cyclists, 200 cycling fans seized this unusual chance and joined the Christmas Fun Tour.
