To ensure road safety, motorists should reduce speed and keep safety distance from the preceding vehicle when passing through the autotoll lane of Western Harbour Tunnel.
Points to Note When Passing Through the Autotoll Lane:
-
Vehicles should be in the middle of the lane to avoid crashing the toll booths on both sides;
-
Do not overtake, change lane, reverse or stop without reason unless you are instructed by tunnel staff to do so;
-
Take extra note of the road condition whether any vehicle cuts lane suddenly;
-
The speed limit at the Toll Plaza (including the autotoll lanes) is 50km/h.
Wrongly Entering the Autotoll Lane
Motorists who wrongly enter the autotoll lane must not stop or cut lane suddenly. Instead, motorists should pass through the autotoll lane at a safe speed, move aside to stop at a safe area without distracting or obstructing any other tunnel users and wait for tunnel staff to provide assistance. On duty tunnel staff will assist motorists in paying the toll. Motorists who are unable to stop at that time should record the date, time as well as the autotoll lane number and contact WHTCL at 24-hour customer service hotline: 2302 5888 to arrange the settlement of toll as soon as possible.
